Tweeze Hair Removal

There are two methods of tweeze hair removal, the trusty hand tweeze, and now the electronic tweeze.  The one does not replace the other but with care the electronic tweeze method will allow you to remove more hair in a shorter space of time.

This makes it suitable for more areas of the body than the hand tweezing.

Hand tweeze removal is one hair at a time so is suitable for areas such as eyebrows, in females the chin, odd hairs on the abdomen and hairs around the nipples. You should not tweeze hairs from the nose, not only because this area is a very sensitive area and the pain factor will be that much higher! But also because of the risk of infection.

______________

Before you start your hair removal you will need; good light, a reliable pair of tweezers (try sharpening your old set and disinfect all tweezers before you start) and a mirror., Have a hot wash cloth on hand or do your tweezing after a shower or bath, this opens the pours of the skin and makes pulling the hairs easier.

______________

Now follow these steps for easy tweeze hair removal.

  •  Gently press the hot washcloth to the skin to warm it.
  • Brush the hair in the direction of hair growth.
  • Hold the single hair that you wish to remove with the tweezers.
  • With a firm smooth action pull the hair in the direction of growth.
  • Do not yank at the hair as this will cause it to break, this in turn could lead to in-growing hairs.
  • Do not use creams before you tweeze as this will make it harder for the tweezers to grip the hair.

With hand tweeze removal the pain should be no more than a stinging or prickling sensation, if it is more than this you might be taking too long in drawing the hair.  Try to keep the action smooth while speeding it up.  If after a little practice this is still painful then see a depilation expert.

______________

When plucking eyebrows, do not get carried away, do a little on each brow at a time.  Try drawing in the shape that you want then note the hairs outside of this to be plucked.

Once you have finished your hair removal try rubbing some ice over the area to reduce redness, this should go away in a few hours then follow up with a moisturizer.

Paradoxically hand tweezing, though time consuming and painful can be very restful, sitting in front of your mirror and pampering yourself!

______________

Electronic tweeze removal is quite different. There is some controversy about this method mainly brought about by a misunderstanding of how the tweeze hair removal method works.

It is not an electric current that travels down the hair as hair is an insulator, but rather radio microwaves that cause the hair cells to oscillate, creating heat.  This reaction is passed down the hair follicle to the derma papilla destroying it.  This makes it easy to draw out the hair.

There is a caution in using this electronic tweeze system with the use of the very short or micro wave radiation.  Because of it’s use the equipment, including the tweezers, should be metal shielded.  This is because the metal reflects radiation, where as the waves can penetrate plastics.

______________

Due to the use of radio waves electronic tweeze hair removal is not suitable for pregnant women or people with pacemakers.

______________

The methodology of electronic tweeze hair removal or Thermolysis epilation is very much the same as hand tweeze hair removal in that it is still one hair at a time, but instead of having to pull the hair out, the tweezers are left to do their job for 5-15 seconds when the hair can then be drawn out with little or no pain.

As electronic tweeze hair removal is low in pain, larger areas can be tackled, but it is still a slow process so only the smaller areas of the body should be selected for it’s use.
