Life Coaching

Life coaching is a productive and results orientated dialogue between a coach and their client, on an issue specified by the client, conducted via the internet. That may be the definition, but what is it?

An individual will have an issue that they seem unable to move past, so they enlist the help of a life coach. The coach will mentor their client through this stage so they can move on to better things.

The "on line" part of Life coaching on line is simply that the sessions are conducted over the internet, either by Skype or email, allowing the client a wider choice of coaches, and more cost effective support.

The “Life” part of coaching is a broad term to encompass the many areas of life in general.  It could include for example, personal issues such as moving house, changing jobs or improving a relationship.  In business it could be problem solving, goal setting, time management, finances or directional.  It may be blockages for writers, artists or musicians; or perhaps a more common aspect these days of trying to juggle career and family commitments.

The reasons a person chooses a life coach are many and varied, but all want to move on, even if they don’t know where to! The coach will work with their client to develop a plan or strategy that will enable them to move towards the desired result.

A major skill for the coach is to be able to listen, this may seem easy enough, but it is a hard trait to find in most people. Everyone’s situation is unique to them, so they want to talk to somebody who would be as committed to their problem as if it were their own.

How often have you heard the expression “Tell someone who cares”  This is a sad indictment on modern society, but so true.  People hardly have time to stop and listen, let alone help solve someone else’s problem.

Because of this, life coaches have a valuable part to play in modern society.  They can step into the breach and for each session the client will have the undivided attention of a trained professional.

Coaches are not psychologists or counselors; they do not deal in medical or trauma issues, though they can coach people through long term illness such as cancer.  A coach’s aim is to help, support and encourage their client to find answers and direction so that they may move forward successfully.

As success means different things to different people, it is the coach’s job to define what the client wants in terms of a successful outcome.  Life coaching is about overcoming obstacles and encouraging the individual to achieve their personal best.

What is life coaching?

Coaching is personal development in action. It's completely practical, there is nothing theoretical about it. Unlike counseling which is how to handle the effects of a trauma, coaching deals with the future providing an environment that allows you to solve problems and move on. Life coaching is about achieving goals and positive growth.

What problems do you deal with?

Just about any issue from how to get that promotion to solving problems with your neighbor. We cover life skills, business, executive and personal growth coaching. We specialize in weight loss and healthy lifestyle coaching.  We do not deal with deep psychological or medical problems.

How much do you charge?

Normally people sign up for coaching on a three to six month basis or sometimes even a year. However, to introduce you to the power of life coaching and because we think there is a need for short term coaching we are offering an initial three quarter hour session at US$40 With a free follow up half-hour session.

Further sessions are at US$50 if booked singularly or remain at the $40 if booked for a month or more.  Most issues take 4 to 8 weeks to resolve.

Sessions or blocks of sessions are paid for in advance by credit card  through the secure Paypal.

How is it conducted?

Coaching is conducted on a weekly basis by Skype, where you phone our office on an appointment basis. These can be conducted at very reasonable rates for international clients, using conferencing facilities. There is also email support, or you may wish to conduct all your sessions via email.  The initial session is of 45 min duration and all further sessions are of approximately 30 min.

Do I have to sign up for a long period?

No. If, after you have taken the first two sessions (remember the second one is free) you decide that you are happy with the results, you can make appointments on a need to basis.

For best results though most issues take four to eight weeks to work through.

What are your qualifications?

Trish is a graduate of the Life Coaching Academy, one of the worlds premier coaching colleges. In fact Trish was one of the first six to graduate when the Life Coaching Academy opened it's doors in 2001.  Chris is a  life member of Coachville, an American company, with very modern techniques.  Trish will do all the coaching unless you particularly want a male coach.

Our background is in executive positions within the hospitality and tourism industry. We are authors and publishers of books and reports on life skills, health and relationships.

We have been married for forty four years, have a successful family, and as well as our business experience, we have owned and cruised yachts extensively.

Is the information confidential?

Absolutely. The relationship you have with your coach is the same as you would have with your doctor or your lawyer.  You must have total confidence and trust in your coach.
