Lose Unwanted Kilos

Weight loss isn't just about looking good, a healthy body weight is crucial if you want to enjoy good health and longevity. A healthy lifestyle diet encompasses more than just the food you eat, it becomes a way of life.

To lose unwanted kilos doesn't have to be a torturous regime that dominates your life and makes eating a misery.  You can lose weight, get fit and enjoy yourself at the same time.  What's more, it won't cost a fortune.

Research has proved that 95% of people using fad diets regain the weight they lose.  This is because too much is lost too quickly.  The body then produces chemicals that make you want to eat as it thinks you are starving!  Weight that comes off through a sensible diet and exercise will stay off.

Get to know more about what you are eating, especially fast foods.  Not all fast food is bad.  Barbecue chicken for instance contains protein and vitamins, however the skin contains large amounts of fat and salt, so eat the meat and avoid the skin.

Part of the problem with fast food is that it is eaten between meals as a snack.  Take a hard look at your eating habits, then make a decision on what is necessary and what is not.

For example if you cut the amount of sugar in your coffee by half rather than none at all, you will still save about 200grams a week yet still be able to enjoy the coffee.  Learn to recognize foods regarded as plumping agents,

Don't change all of your diet overnight.  The body needs time to adjust , especially if you are introducing more fruit and vegetables.

What you  drink is as important as what you eat.  Soft drinks, especially carbonated drinks, are notoriously high in kilojoules, and should be avoided altogether.  Water is the best and healthiest thirst quencher, though you don't need to carry a bottle with you everywhere you go.  If you are drinking socially then try juices as a mixer.

To keep your body toned while you are losing weight, it is advisable to have an exercise program in place.  The easiest, simplest form of exercise is walking, it is absolutely the perfect exercise.  As well as decreasing your body fat it will help to decrease blood pressure, and strengthen bones.
